The following images (click on them for larger versions) show how the base elecronics, which control the lamp, is attached.
The components here are the transformer, intensity control knob and intensity indicator needle.
Here, I cut and connectorized the output wires that go up the vertical column to the lamp. This is not needed, but makes it quicker to disconnect.
Four large bolts from below attach the base to the main body.
Next, I installed the external optics.
